Job Description

This position is responsible for protecting patentable advances made within the company

Responsibilities:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications and represent the company before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Police an assigned portion of the patent portfolio of the division.
  • Stay abreast of competitive patent activities.
  • Review competitors machines for possible infringement of company patents.
  • Assist in design around efforts with engineering teams to avoid infringing competitor patents.
  • Provide presentations to Engineering as it relates to Patent updates/changes etc.
  • Knowledge of Intellectual Property contracts
  • Review products for patentable ideas.
  • Review and evaluate invention disclosures.
  • Review and evaluate competitor patents.
  • Monitor company patents to prevent infringement.
  • Monitor outside counsel when required.


Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a minimum of 4 years professional experience in Mechanical and or Electrical Engineering fields
  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from accredited law school.
  • Must be admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Must have at least 7 year of professional Patent Legal experience
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
  • Ability to work under moderate supervision
